Napoli Defeat Bologna to Claim Italian Super Cup

Napoli lifted the Italian Super Cup on Monday as David Neres struck twice to secure the reigning Serie A champions a 2-0 victory over Bologna in the final in Jeddah.
The Brazilian winger opened the scoring before half-time with a superb curling effort from distance against last season’s Italian Cup winners. He added a second in the second half after intercepting a misplaced pass from Bologna goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia as he attempted to play out from the back.
Neres finished the competition with three goals, having also found the net in Napoli’s 2-0 semi-final win over AC Milan last week.
Traditionally contested by the Serie A and Italian Cup champions, since 2023 the Italian Super Cup has expanded to include the runners-up from both competitions. The four-team format is contracted to be staged in Saudi Arabia until 2029.
