Gaise Baba Surpasses Wizkid and Others to Top YouTube Nigeria’s 2025 Music Chart

YouTube has announced that No Turning Back II by gospel artiste Gaise Baba, featuring Lawrence Oyor, is Nigeria’s most-watched music video of 2025.

The song, which quickly gained traction across churches and Christian communities nationwide, amassed 41 million views in just six months.

It also garnered 397,000 likes and over 22,000 comments, cementing its place as one of the year’s biggest viral worship anthems.

Gaise Baba reacted to the milestone in the comment section of YouTube’s announcement on Instagram, expressing gratitude to his team and collaborators.

He hailed the accomplishment as proof of their collective impact and spiritual dedication, writing:
“Big shout out to pastor Lawrence Oyor and that warrior congregation of David Generation Church. See what the Lord has done with our simple obedience. Of a truth, we shift the culture.”

Shallipopi’s Laho claimed the second spot on the music video chart, while With You, a collaboration between Davido and Omah Lay, placed third.

In the creators’ category, actress Omoni Oboli was named Nigeria’s top creator for 2025. Ibrahim Yekini’s Itelediconstudio and Uchenna Mbunabo TV, owned by filmmaker Uchenna Mbunabo, ranked second and third respectively.

YouTube’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, Addy Awofisayo, described 2025 as a year defined by “explosive musical talent and captivating storytellers,” noting that Nollywood and Nigerian creators continued to deepen their global footprint.

She revealed that 70 per cent of total watch time for Nigerian content came from international viewers, underscoring the growing global appetite for local storytelling.

Awofisayo added that YouTube viewing on televisions in Nigeria surged by nearly 40 per cent this year, highlighting the platform’s ongoing investment in training, partnerships and creator support.

“Nigerian content is reaching audiences farther than ever. Over 70 per cent of watch time on content produced by Nigerian channels now comes from viewers outside the country,” she said.

“Television screens have become the new frontier, with watch time on YouTube content via TVs in Nigeria growing nearly 40 per cent in 2025.

“YouTube’s success in Nigeria is rooted in years of investment in capacity building.
