NDLEA, US and UK Agencies Investigate ₦338 Billion Cocaine Seizure at Lagos Port

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) is collaborating with its counterparts in the United States and the United Kingdom to uncover the cartel responsible for importing 1,000 kilograms of cocaine, valued at over ₦338 billion, intercepted at the PTML Terminal of Tincan Island Port in Lagos.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Agency confirmed that the cocaine was discovered inside an empty container at the terminal over the weekend.
Terminal operators alerted the NDLEA and other port security agencies, who jointly inspected the consignment. The substance was formally handed over to the NDLEA on Tuesday after laboratory tests confirmed it was cocaine.
Given the substantial quantity of the recovered Class A drug, NDLEA Chairman Buba Marwa on Tuesday instructed that the Agency’s principal international partners be engaged in the investigation.
The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA) are now actively involved in the probe.
“The essence of collaborating with our international partners on this case is to ensure no stone is left unturned… so that ultimately we can get all the masterminds of this huge consignment brought to book, wherever they are located across the globe,” Marwa said.
